***** EVENT BANNER *****

discussion thread: http://www.fantasicaunofficial.com/t5461-arena-season-1-mar-25-mar-29

JP wiki: via Google Translate

This is a brand new type of Arena event which features 2 modes of play, the Tournament Mode where you are guaranteed BT Pts and the Survival Mode where just one loss means NO BT Pts.

There is a time limit in this Arena. If you fail to fight within the time limit, your match will be counted as a loss even if you win. It is recommended to participate in the Arena only while you are in areas with good cellphone / internet reception to prevent disruptions halfway during the Arena.

Note: Trading will be disabled during this arena! Very Happy

You also cannot call your allies in the Arena battle.

Participation in either of the two Arena modes requires Arena Tickets.
To obtain Arena Tickets, you can either get tickets from Training or included in the card packs.
All unused Arena Tickets will carry over to the next Arena event.

***** EVENT TEXT *****

Of course, you can always do both!

Event Schedule
The Arena: Season 1 will begin on
Mar. 25, 2013, post-maint. and end on Mar. 29 at 2:00 am.
* Event schedule may be subject to change.

All Rank Rewards will be distributed after the event ends.

NOTE: All rank / daily rewards must be received by April 5, 2013 at 2:00 am.

Trading During the Arena Event
All trading during the Arena event will be disabled.

The trade system will be go offline on March 25, 2013, post-maintenance, before coming back on March 29, 2013, after maintenance.

No trades will be allowed during time! All on-going trades will be cancelled.

Combat Within the Arena
Combat in the Arena takes place between two teams, each one consisting of up to 7 members.

The Arena also features a restriction called a Decree. Decrees limit the kind of unit you can add to your team.

The first Arena decree is, "all units must cost 25 or less".

* Each Arena event may feature a new decree.

You cannot call Allies in an Arena battle.

Arena Tickets
Participation in either of the two Arena modes requires Arena Tickets.
All unused Arena Tickets will carry over to the next Arena event.

Tournament Mode
Tournament Mode is an 8-player battle that takes place in a tournament-style format.

In Tournament Mode, you will earn an amount of BT Pts depending on how far you manage to advance before losing (or winning) the tournament.

You cannot resign from Tournament Mode.

If you happen to be in the middle of a tournament right as maintenance starts, you will lose your Arena Ticket and any BT Pts you have earned in that current tournament. Take care when participating in Tournament Mode near maintenance time.

BT Pts will be awarded on the results screen at the end of the tournament.

Survival Mode
Survival Mode is a 10-battle marathon session that ends at your first loss.

The more battles you win, the more potential BT Pts you can earn.

However, if you lose any of the 10 battles, you will gain no BT Pts and your run will end.

You are given the option to resign between battles. If you do, you will gain BT Pts depending on how many wins you have accumulated up to that point.

If you happen to be in the middle of a Survival Mode run when maintenance starts, you will not gain any BT Pts unless you see them awarded on the results screen at the end of the run.

Furthermore, if maintenance starts while you're in a Survival Mode run, you will lose your Arena Ticket and any BT Pts you have earned in that current tournament. Take care when participating in Survival Mode near maintenance time.

Time Limit
Each battle within the Arena has a time limit.

If you fail to fight within the time limit, your match will be counted as a loss even if you win.

You should also make an effort to participate in the Arena only while you in areas with good cellphone / internet reception.

Visit the Event Library for official banner and text (including rewards): http://www.fantasicaunofficial.com/t5460-arena-season-1-mar-25-mar-29

Note: No trading during event!

***** OVERVIEW *****
Note: The overview here has been shared by Schdawn based on his personal experience and may not be 100% accurate.

Schdawn wrote:
So the dreaded Area has come to the internation server. lol
I wonder how people will react to a full week of trade ban. (a sea of complaint from people who can't trade cancel, maybe)

I'll post some stuffs I know from participating in this event on the JP server.

- There are 2 types of battle, Tournament and Single-Elimination
- Tournament = 3 battles, you'll gain points even if you lose (0 win = 100, 1 win = 150, 2 wins = 300, champion = 600)
- Single-Elimination = 1-10 battles, you can quit anytime, but you won't gain any point if you lose
- One Arena ticket is consumed per one Tournament/SE
- Arena Tickets are obtained from training or buying Premium Box (paid players are at extreme advantage here)
- Trading is banned during the event, so the tickets are inevitabily untradeable

- Units are arranged into 3 lines according to their range
- First line = 110 and 130 range
- Second line = 150 range
- Third line = 175 and 200 range
- The order that the Units are attacked is according to their range (from low to high), and their position when you form the team (top units get attacked first)
- Each unit has its own HP, according to its combined stat
- Once a unit loses all of its HP, it will be put out of fight

- All attacks including skills (excepted for AoE) are directed to the first the first enemy unit according to the order of attack (not the first enemy in the queue)

- Skills behave a little bit differently from the regular PVP arena
- Knockback, knock the unit to the end of the queue
- Slow, move all enemy units a little bit back in the queue
- Poison, when the affected unit attacks it will also deal damage to itself (poison cannot be cured)
- Area of Attack, attack all units in a single row (from front to back)
- Iron Wall, nullify incoming attack, skills (except for AoE) will still be applied
- Double/Triple/Quadraple Attack, attacks 2/3/4 times
- Speed Order, move all ally units a little bit further in the queue
- Attack up, raise attack power of ally units of the specified type

- Units with Iron Walls (Aksana, Bernhard, Zenobia, etc.) are really important, because they can save your team againts AoEers or attacks from strong 6☆ units
- Use only 1-2 Knockbackers in your team because all attacks will be directed to the same unit, wasting the subsequent KBs
- Balance your team's range, don't use too many melee units (with 110-130 range) because a couple of AoEs can wipe your team out
- It is better to have a team of 7 units so that your damage output wouldn't drop by much when your units starts dying (but you can still go with 5-6 units, if you have strong high-cost units)

- Victory is decided by damage output, not amount of kills, so it might be a good idea to put some weaker units up front to protect your high damage output units

This is all I could think of. Hope this helps. : )

Herault wrote:
@Schdawn You mention in your post that having 7 units is recommended. I thought the limit was 5 units for arena event?

The limit is 7 for Arena Battle, because you gain 2 slots from your allies not participating. (normal arena event is 5 units + 2 allies)
Total deploy cost is 120 for all Arena Battles. (as of the third one)

Those units without any skills will have Iron Walls? Like Feles, etc?

Where do I check for the double/triple attk skills?

Check the japanese wiki for units with added skills
First Arena
Second Arena
Third Arena

Iron Wall = 鉄壁の護り
Double Attack = ダブルアタック
Triple Attack = トリプルアタック
Quadra Attack = クアドラアタック
Speed Order = スピードオーダー

btw, many people hate this event because the fighting screen looks very ugly, compared to the normal arena event.

The attack order is a little bit difficult to understand, so I think it might be a good idea to provide an example for this.

Suppose you arrage your team in this order

1.Bernhard cost25 speedC range130 IronWall
2.Alester cost15 speedD range150 Slow
3.Lev cost25 speedA range110 TripleAttack
4.Huges cost20 speedB range150 KB
5.Reve cost25 speedD range175 AoE
6.Charles cost10 speedS range130 DoubleAttack

Your formation will look like this
1st row
Bernhard, Lev, Charles
2nd row
Alester, Huges
3rd row
Reve

Your units will attack in this order
1.Charles(S)
2.Lev(A)
3.Huges(B)
4.Bernhard(C)
5.Alester(D)
6.Reve(D)

Your units will be attacked in this order
1.Lev(110)
2.Bernhard(130, 1st position)
3.Charles(130, 6th position)
4.Alester(150, 2nd position)
5.Huges(150, 4th position)
6.Reve(175)

If you got attacked by an AoE,
Lev, Bernhard and Charles (1st row) will all receive damage.

If you got attacked by an AoE, and those 3 are dead,
Alester and Huges (2nd row) will both receive damage.

If you got attacked by an AoE, Lev is already dead, and Bernhard activates his Iron Wall,
both Bernhard and Charles will NOT receive any damage.

I thought you could reorder your units to pick who gets attacked first but no matter what order I choose they seem to be the same in battle.

Did I miss something?

I'm not sure if they changed it intentionally for the International version, or if it's just an implementation bug, but it seems that currently the units in the same row are ordered according to the order you obtained the card. Neutral

AnyHowPlay wrote:
What is the break down of pts for wins in single elimination format? I see that for tournament you can get a max of 600 pts.

Also do they put you randomly into teams for the tournament mode or can you choose your pool of opponents? Similarly for the single elimination mode, how does the opponent team line up?

I don't know Razz because my team wasn't that strong (I had only one 6☆ at that time), so I only chose to participate in the Tournament mode after I got beaten badly in the Knockout mode. (I'm sorry I used the word single-elimination in my previous post, 勝ち抜き戦 should actually be called Knockout competition.)

If I remember correctly I got somewhere around 500~600 points for giving up after 5 wins, so for 10 wins it should be somewhere 1000+ points.

As for each mode
- For Tournament, 8 players including you are chosen randomly from people around your rank (or sometimes higher), then all players fights with each other in a 1-on-1 single-elimination tournament. All process is done automatically, you can do nothing but watch and hope your team wins. However, the random matching algorithm is a little bit cruel, so expect to get pitted against some people of higher rank than you like almost half the time and lose from the first round.

- For Knockout Competition, you'll be put againt 10 random players, one at a time, from very easy opponents to top rankers. (it gets harder and harder as you progress) You'll be asked after being shown the opponent's leader whether you want to continue fighting or give up. The system is pretty smart in searching for a strong team with weak-looking leader, so be careful.

btw, just a head up, don't spend too much on buying the Lion King, his price will plummet right after the event, because the market will be flooded with a better wall alternative -- Patrick, (and also Aludra after the second Arena) Bernhard's current price on the JP server is around 10~12TE for lv100 and 18~20TE for lv120
Try to aim for Aksana, her price rarely drops, and she is always in high demand, even after the event.

shizukanii wrote:
If the victor is determined by damage output, when does the battle actually end? When all the units of either side are dead or is it dictated by a certain number of rounds as well?

All opposing units dead or 50 Turns
Unless it's a one-side massacre, this is usually around the time the second unit of your team dies

Can I safely say that SPD is not as important as in the last arena event. Because the winner is based on
total damage dealt. Earlier on you mentioned the fight is concluded when the second unit has died (most of the time). Meaning you could afford to have D SPD 6* unit who can deal more damage.

Of course I am not saying SPD does not matter. It's still good to be faster but seeing that kb is not as
useful and with all the new skills into the picture. Long range D SPD 6* like monica might be able to shine?

Speed is as important as the normal arena event, just with a different reason.

Unlike normal arena event, in Arena battle each unit has a lot of HP (6☆ 25cost units like Aksana has somewhere around 700,000 HP), so you won't win by killing off all enemy units, but by dealing more damage to the enemy team.

There are 50 turn total, and you need to squeeze in as much damage as possible in those turns. If your unit has higher speed, they'll get more chance to deal damage before the turn count is over.

Imagine your team of 7 S speed units vs an opponent team of 7 C speed units,
each dealing the same amount of damage.
You'll get 28 attacks in, while your opponent only get 22 attacks,
winning you the match.

There used to be an advice floating around the message board at the time, saying that depending on your card pool, sometimes it's better to use fast units and use 1☆ Jonathan (S speed 10 cost) to fill the cost to 120 (7 units) in order to reduce the number of turns the opponent can take.

However, this is only one of the strategy. You can just use slow but strong unit to overpower the opponent if you have the cards for it. One attack from a strong unit like Monica worth much more than cutting 2-3 turns off your opponent's weak unit.

@Zenobius @KuroStar, the goddess are Enhance feeder which instantly provide 3 levels if used on unit of the matching type.
eg. If I use Goddess of Sword on a lv80/100 melee unit, it will level up to 83/100 instantly.
However if I use Goddess of Sword on a lv80/100 magic unit, it will level up to 81/100 only.

Schdawn wrote:
Timed wrote:
does level affect the health of your units?

Also is Louise the best 4* Area attack to use for this event?
Yes,
unit rarity, unit level, unit cost, unit type, and unit stat are said to affect the health of units
The formula is yet unknown. (unit cost is rumered to play a big factor, but it's not yet confirmed)

Almost all 4☆ have around the same stat, so it's difficult to say which one is the best.
Besides, 4☆ area attack is too weak. Unless you can upgrade it into a 5☆ like Sitri (or 6☆ Reve if you can afford it), it might be better to skip area attack altogether and focus on slow/knockback/poison instead.

ProSoccerForce wrote:
it is a stupid question maybe, but does anyone knows what is important, high damage, good speed or nice skills?
Um, everything?
They are all important. Which one is more important depends on your strategy.

Leana's Exchange Shop

Leana's Exchange Shop is a special new feature that will allow you to exchange unwanted units and items into Leana Points (LP).

You can then exchange LP for Goodie Bags which contain a random item like Ambrosia - the all new item needed to increase a unit's maximum level.

You can exchange up to 10 units at once.
* Once an item or unit has been exchanged into LP, it will be GONE for GOOD. Please be advised.
* LP are capped at 9,999,999 points.
* Goodie Bag contents are determined at random.

Availability of Leana's Exchange Shop
Leana's Exchange Shop may open or close up shop at any moment.
* Even if Leana's Exchange Shop becomes temporarily unavailable, your Leana Points (LP) and Ambrosia will NOT be lost.

Ambrosia
Use Ambrosia to permanently increase a unit's maximum level.

The maximum number of levels that a unit can benefit from Ambrosia is capped at 20 - regardless of unit rarity.

Each use of Ambrosia will increase a unit's level cap by a set amount. That amount depends on the rarity of the target unit.

If a use of Ambrosia would increase a unit's level cap by more than 20, the effect will be still be capped at 20.
* To use an Ambrosia, tap Enhance from the main page and then the LEVEL CAP BREAK! button next to the unit you wish to boost.
