Let's all share the quotes we all live by and strongly put it within our own life.

I am inspired by many people from Socrates to Romulus to Machiavelli to Washington. Any great mark of history have been a great influence to me. Many are those I agree with.

Here are some quotes that I like.

Quote :

SOCRATES

- True wisdom is by knowing you know nothing
- Improve your self by learning what others worked hard to discover.
- Let him who would move the world move himself first.
- Wisdom begin in wonder

Quote :

MACHIAVELLI

-Entrepreneurs are those who know the difference between obstacle and opportunity to turn them into advantage.

Quote :

EINSTEIN

- Two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity.

Quote :
Success, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder, so you must consider the point of view as well. An EVP who never reaches his/her goal of CEO may feel less successful than a career middle manager who is able to spend enough time with his/her family.

Some define success internally, and others depend on external perceptions. The lucky few achieve it at both levels, but for many, internal and external success may not be compatible.

In general, I think successful people do 2 things: set priorities and continually act on them. Whatever you're chasing in life, just make sure you understand why you're chasing it before you worry about the best way to catch it.
That was posted by a fellow forum member on a different message board I'm active at. Very relevant to me as I try to grind my way through actuarial exams.

"A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." - Lao-tzu

The hardest part of reaching one's goal is to take the first step, because after that first step, you're already 50% there.

It was a very interesting read indeed, there's a few concept of the core philosophy that I personally feel is in conflict should one have a goal/ambition they want to achieve in life. I assume that most people do have some goal/ambition that burns in their mind, but Daoism as a philosophy encourages people to abondon their worldy desires & focus on finding one's inner peace, not to pursuit success; so sometimes I wonder how people balance those teaching vs their long/short term goals XD

An it harm none, do what thou wilt.

A friend of mine was sort of... temporarily Wiccan in high school, and this was a core tenet of hers. I wasn't myself, but I sort of picked this up and kept this as a core of my philosophy ever since.

I like to add 'or ignorance' to this.

Yes. Despite of all to given fortune to me, I have not many materials to own. I am also a very neutral with my judgement. It is a philosophy that adapts easily not only during at it's time but also in a modern time. I'm glad that I'm not the only one who read it. lol!

Here are some other great books.

For my financial control, I read the book Rich Dad, Poor Dad and also some books by Machiavelli "Discourses of Livy" and "The Prince."
